Usage Tips: First, insert the knife into the slot that has 2 white stones; this will be referred to as the fine zone. You can make 4 to 5 back-and-forth passes to ensure that the knife is well sharpened. If this does not achieve the desired sharpness, then you can place your knife into the carbide slot and proceed as before, passing your knife back and forth 4 to 5 times. Rubbing the knife against the carbide slot helps to remove a bit of metal.
